Angels

Angels are aliens that possesses a variety of forms and abilities and are known as the sworn enemy of mankind. An Angels purpose is to destroy human kind. It is unknowm where the Angels came from, but they are said to have a very (99.89%) similar arrangement and coordination of their genes as human's ones.

All Angels can generate an A.T field to protect themselves from any form of convetional attack. Most Angels can create a new ability or improve their current one through evolution. Although they all look different in shape, size and form, they all come from Adam, the first Angel.

Even though Angels seem invincible, they aren't. The biggest weakness an Angel posseses is their red core. The main function of this red core is to provide energy to Angel. In other words, this core is the Angels heart. Destroy it, and the Angel dies.

Was not defeated. It was captured in Antarctica then shrank down to the size of an embryo. The transformation initiated the 2nd Impact. After being brought to Nerv Japan from Nerv Germany it was never seen again.

Appeared 15 years after Adam. He has a retractable spear-like weapon in his arm that fires energy charges. His eyes also fire shots that are powerful enough to rip through city blocks.

Fired a strong beam that tore through any substance. The beam is caused from a high energy reaction within the Angel that is set off from any kinetic object withink a certain radius from the Angel. The Angel had a highly efficient AT Field. ... The Perfect Flying Fortress.

After Eva Unit-02 was swallowed by the Angel, two destroyers from the fleet above were sunk along a parallel axis into the drawing powercable of Unit-02. Unit-02 opened the mouth of the Angel, and the destroyers opened fire destroying the S2 orgran that was inside it's mouth thus destroying th Angel.

This Angel was discovered in a volcano still in its embryonic form. Nerv made the decision to capture it first. Unfortunately during the capture mission the egg hatched and attacked the Eva Unit-02.

Evangelion Units-00 to 02, that were using battery packs since there was a power failure, climbed through the corridors of Nerv HQ to find and destroy the Angel. Through teamwork they were able to destroy the Angel with a rifle.

Out of range for hand to hand combat, the Angel used AT Field Depth charges to trying to pinpoint the exact location to attack, intending to divert a river to destroy Nerv HQ. Eventually it began to plummet down to earth.

Misato ordered the Evas to stand by at specific locations. With the AT fields at full they were to prevent the Angel from hitting the ground. When the Angel was halted, the Evas cut through the AT Filed and destroyed the Angel by stabbing it in the eye with the progressive knife.

What appeared to be the physical shape of the Angel was actually a negative of its physical reality. The true Angel was the Dirac's ocean that formed underneath the negative,

After being swallowed into the Dirac's Ocean, Eva Unit-01 went into auxillary power mode. Befor the life support systems totally shut down, Unit-01 went berzerk and ripped out the negaive body of the Angel killing it from the inside.

After an intense battle with the angel Shinji did not check whether he had enough internal power to carry on, which he didn't. After being hammered by the angel, Unit-01 restarted on it's own and destroyed the Angel, devouring and assimilating the S2 Organ.

From a distance the Angel appeared to be a solid ring shaped entity. But up close it was a ring shape made of a double helix pattern. It's method of attack was the direct assimilation of the Eva's. Contact of the First kind.

After breaching Central Dogma with Unit-02 and clearing the Heaven's Gate Kaoru appoached Lilith. Realising is was not Adam, he let humans decide their fate and requested for himself to be destroyed. Unit-01 grabbed Kaoru and killed him.

Soqed Hezi was the first Angel to attack from the second wave of Angels that NERV was dreading. Due to one of the Dead Sea Scroll prophesies being broken, it seemed that mankind was punished with yet another slew of extratterestial invaders to combat against. Yet for it too attack this quickly after the destruction of the 17th Angel came as a surprise to them, as they were expecting a slightly larger gap in between the first and second wave.

Incidentally, the 18th Angel appeared alongside the Unit-Alpha transport, with the reason most likely pointing to the actuall Eva that was being transported. The main aspect that stood out about this Angel was that its size was quite impressive. It wing span was significantly larger than that of the Transporter aircrafts, yet it still had the uncanny ability to command the air that it sailed on. In fact, the Angel travelled through the skies almost in the same way it would have through water, only with a greater speed due to less frition exerted on its massive body.

Aside from the ability to plow into aircrafts and recieve no damage, while also recieving no amount of damage from jetfigheters artillery, this Angel didn't posses any distinctive special abilities. Hovewer, it was aparent that unlike the other Angels, this one was very quick and agile. It didn't posses any long distance offenise weapons, but two giant tusks that portruded from the sides of its mouth worked much in the same way an elephant's would.

The 19th Angel to appear in Tokyo-3 was one that not only tested NERV, but also all of its methods in combating an Angel. For unlike the other ones that had ventured in to the city, this one chose to play it defensively. Throughout its entire stay on Tokyo-3's surface, it would have seemed that it bore no offensive attacks and solely depended on its ability to deflect any projectiles that very fired at it. This possed an interesting problem for NERV as they could not use any of their energy weapons against it as it would simply redirect them back to the firing source.

When the Angel entered the city, it was originally formed into a large silver dodecahedron, a jagged version of a sphere that was entirely composed of segments connected close together. But when it came into position, the sphere fell apart and the fragments seperated to their induvidual units. On closer analysis, it would have seemed that the Angel its was composed of the numerous pentagonal armour plates that littered the city sky. But the core itself was left exposed completely in mid air, with an exeptionally strong A.T. field protecting it.

The method of attack the Angel used was one that seemed almost invincible against any conventional form of attack. For when a projectile, composed of either energy or metal, was fired at the core, it would have then rebounded of the A.T. field then to the surrounding armour plates. By aligning its plates in a specific fashion, the Angel had no trouble in sending the fired ammunition back towards its source.

The 20th Angel to test mankind was Ksoppghiel, the angel of fury. Not many aspects about this Angel made it that unique from the other ones that had appeared, but there was something about this one that set it apart from the others. For the first time know, this was the only Angel to escape the scene of a battle to regenerate itself so to battle at a later date. For soon after the Unit-Beta transport passed over the ship that the Savior Prototype was on board, it appeared. This was an interesting occurance in itself, as Angels would usually attack Tokyo-3 because of the beings that it stored in the Geofront. However, after its exhaustive battle against the Savior, it took the oppourtunbity to retreat when it had supposedly disposed of the robot at sea.

While the events that took place on the ocean weren't completely explained, it didn't take long for the Angel to strike again. Yet this time, it had come prepared. Not only had it completely regenrated from its past battle, but it had evolved as well, growing a pair of arms and sickle like fins. But the nature of its attack remained also unsolved, with only the accompanying Unit-Beta transport somehow being part of it.

Much like the 18th Angel, this one didn't bear that many defining forms of attacks. While its A.T. field made it close to invincible, its massive mouth was a formidable weapon in itself, spouting rows of sharpened teeth that had no trouble in piercing hardenend metals like titanium and steel.

The initial sighting of this Angel caused quite a stir within NERV headquarters, as from a distance, it looked identical to an Evangelion. Even on a closer inspection, differences between the two were hard to find due to their aparent likeness. But the 21st Angel was not a simple copy of an Eva, for that was only a small portion of its magnificent ability to assimilate with the Evas.

Not only could the Angel morph into any of the Evas that were used by NERV, but it also took up on the same traits the specific pilot had. For example, when the Angel took upon Unit-Alpha's form, it could read Ichiro's movements and block his sword attacks with ease as it knew how his combat methods funtioned. But that's not how its original rampage started, as in the beginning, it would have approached an Eve it had not assilited to. By doing this, the pilots believed that it was the real Eva, and they would not attack, allowing the Angel to strike first and put them out of action. But its cover was quickly uncovered, so it adopted to use brute force to win over the Evas. And it did.

With no Evas left to battle, the JSSDF were forced to drop an N2 mine on the Angel as to stop its advance. It was succesful in its intent, as the Angel was forced to regenerate from the damage in incured from the blast. But it also worked against them as the Angel began to elolve further into a much larger and powerfull version of itself.

The Lance of Longinus was lost in the battle with the 15th Angel, and NERV had been given orders to retrieve it from the surface of the moon it was embedded in. The plan: to launch and Eva so that it may bring it back to earth. The operation went smoothly enough, with Unit-ALpha able to find it and pull it out from the moon surface. But it was while the Eva was moving towards the orbitting docking station that the 22nd Angel appeared.

But it caught the Eva completely by surprise, and it quickly latched itself on its back. This proved to be a massive problem as not only couldn't Ichiro face of the Angel in combat, but Shinji wasn't able to fire the Advanced Rail Sniper Rifle without catching Unit-Alpha in the blast. Unless Ichiro did something fast, the Angel would breach the Eva's D-Type equipment, which was protecting it from the cold and powefull vaccum of space.

This Angel's main ability was to shape shift, thus allowing it to get close to Unit-Alpha while catching it by surprise. It's body was also quite strong, as it had evolved itself to cope with the extreme cold and vacuum of space. The Angel's only form of offensive attack was to breach the Eva's suit with its sharp teeth.

Originally slated to protect mankind from the Angels, the newly constructed Savior Test Type became the opposite. For during its test activation, it body was struck down by a massive lighning bolt that would change it forever. Because in that ligning bolt, the 23rd Angel passed itself onto the Savior's body where it took complete control of it.

But the Angel did not stop there, as the core that the robot was using was one that was cloned from and Eva, and it held all the DNA information that it needed to make itself more powerful. For as soon as it had the vital genetic data, the Angel immeadietly cloned an exhanced version of an Evangelion inside the safety of the Savior's body armour. With all of the useless mechanical parts of the robot rejected, the Savior Test Type became a biomechanical entity known as the 23rd Angel, Barakiel.

With NERV informed of the situation, all of the Evas were dispatched to deal with this new alien menace. But their efforts were quickly cut short as the Angel took control of all the Evas, apart from Unit-01. So while the Angel made its way towards Tokyo-3, Shinji was unwillingly engaged in combat with the possessed Evas.

It was while NERV was recovering from the aftermath left by the 23rd Angel that the 24th struck. And when it did, it caught the completely by surprise. For not only were the Evas severly damaged from the previous battle, but most of the Eva pilots were out of action also. And that was part of the reason that the 24th Angel, Azrael, managed to get as far as it did.

But NERV was not going to lose this battle without a fight. They might not have been completely ready for the Angel, but they were far from powerless. But as soon as Unit-02 was sent to engage the Angel, it was quickly taken down by the Angel. Even Unit-04, which was waiting for it at headquarters, was put out of action qithout too much of a struggle. It was only when the Angel met up with Unit-Alpha did the battle heat up.

Due to Ichiro's blind rage, the Angel was finding it hard to combat the Eva. But this was quickly taken care of when Unit-Alpha became buried under a pile of fallen debris. Yet before the Angel could do anything else, Unit-Gamma appeared on the scene to change it. But throughtout their struggle down to Terminal Dogma, Unit-Gamma ran out of power and it was knock out by the Angel. As "Heaven's Door", the access door to Terminal Dogma, was blown apart, it seemed that the Angel had succeeded in reaching its goal.

It was when the eight child, Ayame Nagase, came to Tokyo-3 that the 25th Angel chose to strike. Emerging out from behind the city's mountain range, this Angel was a sight to behold. From a distance, it looked like an enlarged version of a dog, yet that's where the similarites ended. For this Angel, it was completely composed of white flowing energy with only its black eyes standing out from the fur.

The fact was, that NERV had already prepared itself for intercepting this Angel as the city was completely empty from the evacuation that took place. But Ayame didn't know this as she was new to Tokyo-3 and Misato hadn't yet picked her up. And she was there to witness Unit-02 appearing on the surface, only to be instantenously taken down by it. Unit-04 followed a similar fate as when the Angel performed its ultimate attack.

The Angel's most poweful form of attack was when it charged at an Eva. It would be then a collection of red energy beam would swirl around its body, preparing it for its release. For as it continued to gain more speed, the Angel would suddenly transform into a giant living ball of fire, and in this form it was close to unstoppable. But the downfall of this manuever was that it could hold this form while it was running. So when it was still, it would revert back to its original form.

In its original arrival, the 26th Angel not managed to stir up NERV, but also the secretive Savior Underground. For it was this Angel that the Savior would finally battle against. But this idea did not go down too well with NERV and a stand off formed between the two factions which eventually ended up in a free for all battle between the lone Savior and all of the Evas.

But in the momentous fight that the Savior had with Unit-Alpha, it became too badly damage to persue the possibility of fighting the Angel. Although the Savior did recieve a newly developed Ion Cannon, one would have to wonder at its effectiveness in regards to the Angel's A.T. field, as it was quite powerful.

Before the end of that battle, NERV became aware that the Angel had vanished without a trace. The reason why it did it was unclear, but it may have had something to do with its actual attack ability. Seeing that Ichiro and James were already swore enemies and that they hated each other quite visibly, the Angel wasn't able to do anything so it chose to appear at a different point of time.

The 27th Angel was SEELE's final attempt in setting forward the Third Impact without informing NERV and Ikari beforehand. Their patience with him had finally reached its maximum and they believed it was time to act. No more Angels were sceduled to appear, so this was the perfect oppourtunity to make their plans for humanity a reality. And to do this, they had to release an Angel that they could control.

Although NERV were never able to detect or find out who or what the 27th Angel was, it was clear that only one person was capable of performing something like this: an insider. This was further complicated by the fact that no A.T. field was detected on the surface of the city and inside of headquarters. It was almost as if some other force was at work. But this was not the case, as SEELE had secretly called upon one of NERV's pilots. And that pilot was Ayame Nagase.

Whatever SEELE must have told her, it had a powerful impact on her. While her conversation with the monoliths was not shown, it's believed to have been related to discussing her past, and most of all, who she was. For in the end, it seemed that Ayame Nagase was the 27th Angel to challenge mankind.
